Toledo, Ohio and surrounding communities are plagued with drug abuse, teen pregnancy and human trafficking due to poverty, lack of resources and education within these communities. SELF-ESTEAM is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was founded in 2019 to address these issues by offering programs that give young women of color opportunities to build their confidence and their communities.

The five founding members of SELF-ESTEAM have extensive community service experience, each holding a minimum of a bachelor's degree. All are trained in diversity and inclusion, leadership, project management, fundraising, and communication.
